The Complete Accountability Method
Drawing on this analysis, a method for accountability can be devised.
1. Cause: Did one party infringe on the interests of another? If so, a relationship of accountability has been established.
2. Proportionality: How significant was this infringement of interests? Is it of sufficient objective consequence that it is worth pursuing? If so, a formal relationship of accountability is formed, and an explanation must be provided by the infringing party.
3. Justification: If an account can reasonably be demanded, based on the best evidence available, was the infringing party justified in their actions or not?
4. Consequence: With justification established, consequences should be applied to reflect the facts of the situation, rectify harm where possible, and prevent future harm from occurring.
